For Sale: 1990 Porsche 944 Cabriolet Convertible!

For sale is a 1990 Porsche 944 Cabriolet convertible.  During 1990 and 1991, only 2300 Porsche 944 Cabriolets were imported into the U.S.  Only during this two year period did Porsche produce the convertible, which makes this particular model a rare find.

Car was originally purchased in 1990 by a doctor from Austin.  In 1994 he sold or gave the car to his son.  I am the 3rd owner and purchased the car in June of ’05. The car runs great, the upholstery does not have any rips or tears, all 4 seatbelts are working, power seats, air bags, air conditioner, power windows and heater are all operational and in peak working condition. Car accelerates from zero to sixty in less than 6 seconds, giving you everything and holding back nothing!

In June, 2006 I replaced the original Porsche engine.  The replacement engine came from a Porsche 944 with only 50,000 miles on it.  Only 10,749 more miles have been added to date, for a total of 60,749 engine miles.

It made sense while the engine was out, to spend the extra money and replace the clutch and timing belt with new parts, even though the old ones were not in need of repair.  My mechanic, whose specialty is Porsches, agreed, and the extra work was done.  A new water pump was also installed at that time.  It should be noted that replacing the engine and the timing belt are huge expenses, and therefore having made these repairs makes this car a really great buy!

Besides the above mentioned repairs, additional repairs listed below were made either for cosmetic reasons, or because of the usual mechanical repairs.

October ’05   new power steering rack

                       new front-end oil seals

                       power-steering pump

April ’06    replaced convertible top with new one

                       (top only, not frame)

      May ’07    interior carpet redone/re-glued

                        cracked windshield replaced

                        new interior door panels

                        new radio/cd player installed

                        speaker system re-wired

June ’07    new master clutch cylinder

August ’07    torque tube replaced—this repair was

an expensive one, making this car

                          even more appealing!  New owner

should not have to worry about this

                          repair any time soon!

February ’08   4 brand new tires

Also included with the car are the official Porsche “shop manuals” that detail every nut and bolt in the car.  They have procedures and step-by-step instructions on making ALL repairs.  These are the same manuals that Porsche mechanics use, and I will be happy to burn them to CD for whomever buys the car.

I always thought I would have this car to enjoy for at least a few more years.  I’ve loved it from day one, and everything I’ve put into it has been a labor of love, but life happens. I am going to law school and need to liquidate some of my assets.

This car is a bargain at $8000, but all offers made in good faith will be considered.  I have a clear title, and can accept only cash or a certified bank check.   Please view all of the pictures below.  To ask any questions or make an appointment to see the car, please call 833-0024.  This is my parents phone number.  My parents are very familar with the car especially my mom. (Hard to believe, huh?)  Anyone wishing to talk with me personally, can get my number from them as well.  If you wish to contact me via email, you may do so at scott@corn-bread.org.
