The accounting cycle:

• During the period – Analyze transactions, record journal entries, and post amounts to the general ledger.
• At the end of the period –
• Adjust revenues and expenses, as well as other balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare complete set of financial statements and disseminate those statements to users.
• Close revenues, gains, expenses, and losses to retained earnings.
